The Technical Apprenticeship Service is a unique, easy-to-use skills service for employers, training providers and apprentices, designed to bring new talent and skills into the industry.

You can act as the ‘host’ employer, and we contractually employ the apprentice on your behalf, which is particularly suitable for employers where employee head-count is an issue. In this instance we will:

n Provide you with a dedicated Relationship Manager to work with you, the apprentice and the training provider.

n Undertake the selection and recruitment activity and provide you with a high calibre apprentice.

n Complete the apprentice’s employment administration including contracts of employment, terms and conditions and sickness and absence.

n Issue regular apprentice progress reports, as well as supervising and supporting the apprentice.

Alternatively, you can employ the apprentice, in full, from the beginning of the programme. This means we will:

n Work with you to create a job description and person specification.

n Advertise the vacancy and undertake a selection process, providing you with only high quality interview candidates. We can also join you in the interview.

n Act as a linchpin between the training provider and the apprentice, ensuring that the apprentice is developing at a steady pace.

In addition, we can provide technical advice on qualifications and frameworks and give you clear step-by-step guidance on funding and rates of pay. We can also provide a mentoring service to support and coach managers and supervisors, providing you with practical guidance whilst you are working with your apprentice.
