Arvia Technology Wins Product Innovation of the Year

Arvia technology team win award

Arvia Technology is proud to have won the Product Innovation of the Year at Insider’s 2026 Made in the North West Awards recognising Nyex Florenox™, Arvia’s advanced water treatment technology designed to destroy PFAS.

Held at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool, the prestigious awards brought together several of the North West’s most innovative manufacturers, celebrating the region’s engineering excellence and its contribution to industries worldwide. For Arvia, this achievement marks an important milestone in their mission to develop practical, sustainable solutions to the most challenging water treatment problems facing industry today.

Tackling the challenge of ‘forever chemicals’

Nyex Florenox was developed to address one of today’s most persistent environmental challenges: per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

Often known as ‘forever chemicals’, PFAS are synthetic substances used in many industrial and consumer products because they resist water, grease and heat. Their strong carbon–fluorine bonds make them extremely difficult to break down, allowing them to persist in the environment. This persistence raises contamination concerns and increases demand for effective treatment technologies.

Conventional treatment methods can capture or concentrate PFAS without necessarily destroying them, leaving contaminated waste that requires further treatment or specialist disposal.

Nyex Florenox takes a different approach by targeting the contaminants themselves. Its advanced electrochemical oxidation process is designed to break down persistent compounds rather than simply transferring them into another waste stream.

About Nyex Florenox

Arvia’s PFAS wastewater treatment technology uses an advanced inert electrode material to generate highly reactive hydroxyl radicals. These radicals directly target and break the strong carbon-fluorine (C-F) bonds, effectively addressing the challenge of removing PFAS compounds.

Florenox reactors are the next generation of Arvia’s electrochemical oxidation technology, built to perform efficiently at low pressure and temperature. The electrochemical (EO) process is crucially dependent on the mass transfer of PFAS to the 3D electrode surface, which is enhanced by higher PFAS concentrations and larger electrode surface areas.

These innovations make Florenox a highly efficient and eco-friendly solution for PFAS wastewater treatment, which is particularly effective for treating parts per million (ppm) levels of PFAS. This attribute positions the Florenox system as an ideal partner for concentration technologies.

Innovation with real-world impact

The judges selected Nyex Florenox from an impressive shortlist, recognising its potential for global impact and Arvia’s commitment to moving from “the required to the ideal.” The award highlights the importance of developing technologies that go beyond existing treatment requirements to address emerging environmental challenges.

This recognition also celebrates the people behind the technology. From research and development to engineering, manufacturing and deployment, Arvia’s team turns scientific innovation into practical solutions for industry.

As environmental expectations evolve and demand for effective PFAS treatment grows, Arvia remain focused on advancing technologies that help customers tackle persistent contaminants and improve water treatment outcomes.

Following this achievement, Nyex Florenox will progress to the Made in the UK Awards, where Arvia looks forward to representing the North West on the national stage.

Arvia thanks the organisers and judges of Insider’s Made in the North West Awards for recognising Nyex Florenox, and to the entire Arvia team whose expertise, dedication and ambition made this achievement possible.
