Scottish Engineering Firm awarded US Patent for new batch reactor technology

Process Technology Strategic Consultancy Ltd (PTSC) has been awarded a US Patent for the PI QFlux™ reactor, which it has recently launched.

The PI QFlux™ is an upgrade on conventional batch reactors, which has been designed from the outset to maximize heat transfer.

PTSC’s Managing Director, Andrew Wills, said “We are pleased to have reached this milestone in the IP protection of the PI QFlux. The design development of this technology has taken 4 years to date and there are many design features which all contribute to the heat transfer performance. To have this work protected by patents is a key part of commercializing the technology”

A core innovation of the PI QFlux™ is the heated baffle assembly, which contributes the same heat transfer as the vessel jacket. Back to back performance trials were recently undertaken in Japan in collaboration with Kobelco Eco Solutions where it was confirmed that the PI QFlux transferred heat more that 4 times faster than conventional reactors

PTSC has patents applied for the PI QFlux™ reactor in Europe, China, India and Japan.
