How Testing before buying can give you certainty for your process

When it comes to big and crucial purchases such as when expanding or upgrading your process you want absolute certainty it will work as intended. Theory and experience are often enough for small projects, however, for when you require absolute certainty nothing beats a real-life test. Having a process guarantee in place will help protect you from any mistakes.

Why is process verification testing so important?

Although many applications can be very similar, sometimes unusual conditions of the product or the environment can affect the results. For example, a machine might work fine when at room temperature, but if you work somewhere very hot or cold, that can have unpredictable effects. And don’t forget something as simple as moisture content can greatly affect a products characteristic.

Without testing you would most likely only find any problems after implementation. This is not a great situation to be in and could have been easily prevented with the right testing.

When to perform testing?

Ideally testing all processes and machine before purchase would be best to eliminate all uncertainty. However, that is not always feasible or suitable.

A good rule to keep in mind when picking tests is to do them if there are any extreme or unusual conditions in the process, environment, or product. Think about standard room conditions. If anything is very different to that like freezing temperatures, or high humidity it’s best to mention it.

Also, if you are unsure then at Gericke our experienced engineers can advise on when testing would be suitable based on our 125+ years of experience in powder processing.
