Anton Paar UK is inviting scientists, engineers, technologists, and academic researchers to attend a free, hands-on workshop focused on measuring and characterising battery materials. The event will take place on 13 May 2026 (09:30–16:30) at the company’s laboratory and offices in Luton.
As global battery research and development accelerates, the need for high-quality materials and reliable analysis techniques has never been greater. The performance, safety, and lifespan of batteries depend heavily on the quality, consistency, and behaviour of electrodes, separators, slurries, electrolytes, and cells. This one-day, in-person workshop has been designed to help attendees deepen their understanding of battery material analysis and optimisation.
The event combines expert-led presentations with practical, hands-on sessions using the latest instrumentation. Participants will explore how key analytical techniques can address real-world development challenges and improve material performance across battery R&D and production.
What attendees will learn
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
• Understand how particle size, surface area, and porosity influence battery performance and lifespan
• Optimise slurry quality and consistency through rheological characterisation
• Assess electrolyte quality to support safer battery development
• Perform mechanical testing on finished electrodes
• Apply advanced techniques including X-ray diffraction, surface area analysis, density measurement, particle sizing, imaging, and differential scanning calorimetry
Techniques covered
• Powder Rheology
• X-ray Diffraction (XRD)
• Surface Area (BET) and Porosity Characterisation
• Solid Density Analysis including Gas Pycnometry
• Particle Sizing and Imaging
• Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
Registration for this free workshop closes on 10 May 2026. Scientists, researchers and engineers working in battery research and manufacturing are encouraged to secure their place and take advantage of this opportunity to advance their expertise in a fast-growing field.
