HFCs have been viewed and used as replacements for many ozone-depleting substances (ODSs)–substances that have been or are being phased out under the Montreal Protocol. However, although HFCs do not destroy the ozone layer, they are potent greenhouse gases. Therefore, with rapidly growing use of HFCs globally, especially in refrigeration and air-conditioning, the commitment and compliance to the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, which aims to phase down the production and consumption of HFCs, has become increasingly important. In this webinar, an overview of HFCs and regulatory activities relating to these substances will be discussed.

What the session will cover

  • What are HFCs?
  • Are HFCs Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)?
  • Uses of HFCs
  • Concerns about HFCs
  • What does the future hold for HFCs – a regulatory overview

This webinar will benefit

  • Anyone who is involved in the handling (including manufacture, import, export and/or use) of HFCs or products/equipment containing HFCs.
