Metrohm is taking Raman spectroscopy beyond the lab with an innovative solution designed to improve safety during hazardous site investigations. The IBEX system pairs a quadrupedal robot with Metrohm’s MIRA XTR, enabling military personnel, first responders and Hazmat specialists to investigate dangerous environments remotely.
Metrohm’s MIRA XTR DS provides rapid, accurate, non-contact identification of hazardous substances, including narcotics, toxic chemicals and explosive materials. With Autofocus Standoff (AFSO) technology, operators are able to analyse materials through most transparent/translucent materials from distances of up to two metres, reducing the need for direct exposure.
Integrated with IBEX, the technology enables remote reconnaissance, environmental assessment and chemical identification while keeping personnel at a safe distance. By combining advanced robotics with Raman spectroscopy, IBEX offers a powerful approach to managing hazardous situations with greater speed, precision and protection.
