Brabender TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40: Pilot-Scale Extrusion with Lab-Level Insight

Anton Paar has expanded its extrusion portfolio beyond the laboratory scale with the launch of the Brabender TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40 for pilot-scale extrusion.

With throughput up to 100 kg/h, the new twin-screw extruder brings lab-grade process understanding into pilot-scale production, enabling users to validate process parameters and produce relevant quantities under realistic conditions.

“From small-batch production to process transfer, the expectation remains the same: data must be trustworthy,” says André Kayser, Product Manager at Anton Paar. “Building on Anton Paar’s expertise in lab-scale extrusion, TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40 translates this measurement mindset to pilot scale, combining transparent process data with higher throughput.”

The most compact extruder in its class, TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40 features an integrated drive for use in tight pilot environments without compromising performance. The co-rotating twin screws are driven by 39 kW, operate up to 1,200 rpm, and deliver 150 Nm per screw under process conditions of up to 450 °C and 300 bar.

A clamshell barrel opens at the touch of a button to provide direct access to process areas for cleaning, screw changes, and inspection without the need for teardown. For demanding materials and frequent product switches, the detachable liner inserts can be released by loosening a few bolts, allowing quick changes of liner materials or hardness for abrasive, corrosive, or sensitive recipes while minimising cross-contamination between runs.

TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40’s unique integrated engineering interface enables software-based I/O configuration for digital and analog signals. This allows users to add or remap sensors, actuators, feeders, and downstream devices without hardware rebuilds, enabling effortless adaptation to changing application requirements.

The industry-leading MetaBridge software provides process visibility and control, recording and visualising key parameters such as torque, temperature, pressure, screw speed, and throughput to support trial comparison, standardised reporting, and data export.

Designed for efficient development, reliable small-batch production, and smooth transfer to larger-scale operations, TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40 combines a compact footprint, easy process access, flexible configuration, and comprehensive data capture to support efficient and consistent extrusion workflows.
