Adler & Allan, the leading UK provider of integrated environmental risk reduction services backed by Goldman Sachs, has acquired market-leading contaminated land remediation and enabling specialists, Vertase. The acquisition significantly strengthens Adler & Allan’s contaminated land remediation capabilities, enhancing the service we deliver to existing clients while expanding our reach into new sectors and customer bases.
Founded in 2000, Vertase is one of the UK’s foremost contaminated land remediation specialists. Acquired by the FLI Group in 2005, the business has grown rapidly and expanded organically and is now a nationwide contractor and provides solutions to brownfield and contaminated land challenges across all construction sectors including industrial, commercial and residential developers, utility providers, manufacturers, petrochemical operators, and public‑sector organisations.
Adler & Allan are on a mission to seamlessly integrate environmental services, making it easier for customers to access the joined up solutions they demand. With an unmatched blend of environmental consulting, infrastructure lifecycle management expertise, and an award-winning pollution response capability, the acquisition of Vertase reinforces Adler & Allan’s strong market presence as a leading provider of integrated environmental risk reduction solutions across a broad range of UK industrial sectors.
Michael Flynn, Executive Chairman and CEO of FLI Group, said: “Since the FLI Group acquired Vertase in 2005, we have helped the business grow and develop into the market leading Brownfield and Contaminated Land Remediation Contractor in the UK. The continued development of the business and particularly the people is key to the success of Vertase going forward and in Adler and Allan we see strong alignment to this strategy. The sale of Vertase to Adler and Allan, backed by Goldman Sachs, creates tremendous opportunities for the entire team and the business. The whole of the Vertase team can embrace those opportunities, and we wish them every success under their new ownership. Our focus will continue to be on reinvestment into the remaining FLI businesses and the continued development of the Group into the future.”
Jason Clay, Chief Operating Officer of Adler & Allan, said: “Incorporating Vertase into the Adler & Allan Group further enhances our ability to provide contaminated land remediation solutions that deliver better outcomes for our customers and the environment. The Vertase team’s technical expertise and strong reputation for high‑quality project delivery further reinforces our commitment to helping our customers to plan ahead and stay compliant whilst managing their assets and operations with confidence.”
Adler & Allan, which is backed by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, remains committed to pursuing an acquisition-focused strategy, integrating highly specialised environmental services in support of customers across the UK and beyond.
Henrik Pedersen, CEO of Adler & Allan, commented, “Vertase’s proven capability and deep expertise strengthen our consulting, engineering, and field operations. This acquisition is an important step in building a unified, market‑leading service offering that gives customers a more seamless path to stronger operational performance and better environmental outcomes.”
This acquisition follows the announcement that specialist consultancies, Thomson Environmental Consultants and Atmos Consulting, joined the Adler & Allan Group in November 2025.
