Pollution prevention and control specialist Darcy Group has expanded its operational footprint in Birkenhead, Merseyside, with the addition of a third site, as demand continues to grow across its spill containment and pollution monitoring product lines.
Expansion Strengthens UK Manufacturing Footprint
The latest expansion increases the company’s total number of facilities to five across the UK, including its headquarters in Kent and an operations hub in Leeds. The new space will support increased technical manufacturing capacity, particularly for drain closure systems and pollution monitoring alarms.
Rising Demand Driven by Regulation and Industry Change
The move comes in response to sustained growth driven by a combination of tightening environmental regulation and changing industrial requirements. Increased scrutiny around pollution prevention, alongside rising demand from sectors such as digital infrastructure, has accelerated the need for both tertiary containment solutions and real-time monitoring technologies.
Darcy Group’s production team supports a broad customer base, supplying directly to end users with full installation, commissioning and maintenance services, as well as working with equipment manufacturers through white-labelled solutions. The expansion is intended to ensure continued capacity across both channels.
Scaling Production to Meet Customer Needs
Kirk Meikle, Director of Aquasentry and BSI Member, said:
“Demand for effective pollution prevention and monitoring is increasing across multiple sectors, driven by both regulatory pressure and greater awareness of environmental risk. Expanding our Birkenhead operations allows us to scale production in line with that demand while maintaining the quality and reliability our customers expect.”
As part of the investment, the company has also introduced higher-capacity, automated PCB manufacturing equipment to support the continued growth of its monitoring systems. These systems, developed under the company’s technical brand Aquasentry, are widely used to provide early warning of pollution risks in applications such as oil-water separators and drainage infrastructure.
Supporting Growth Across the Industry
The expansion follows a series of strategic developments for the business, including recent additions to its commercial team to support growth across its spill prevention and control division, Darcy Spillcare.
With more than 90 years of experience in environmental protection, Darcy Group continues to focus on combining engineered spill control solutions with monitoring technologies to help organisations reduce risk, improve compliance and protect the environment.
