Redditch Medical, which specialises in cleanroom contamination control solutions, has been acquired by German healthcare company Schülke & Mayr.
The deal achieves a ‘significant return’ for Traditum Private Equity, which invested in the Sedgefield-based firm early last year.
Founded in 2012 as a subsidiary of the Entaco Group, Redditch Medical manufactures the InSpec range of cleanroom disinfectants and detergents for the life sciences industry, and provides technical support, including microbiological and chemical analytics.
The company employs 44 staff, with exports accounting for most of its turnover.
Traditum invested in the Entaco Group in early 2024, supporting a management buy-out led by managing director Steve Brown, providing funding to unlock growth.
With Traditum’s backing, Entaco strengthened its management team, invested in operations to improve efficiency and expand capacity at Redditch Medical’s facilities, launched new product lines, opened an in-house laboratory, and drove significant sales growth in both existing and new export markets.
Following the acquisition, Traditum will retain a stake in Entaco’s remaining divisions, based in Worcestershire, which manufacture surgical needles and medical devices. Steve Brown will remain with Redditch Medical under its new ownership.
Schülke & Mayr GmbH is a global leader in infection prevention and control, serving the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.
The acquisition expands Schülke’s ability to deliver cleanroom solutions to its customers, while supporting Redditch Medical’s continued growth across European and global markets.
David Mitchell, CEO of Traditum, said: “Redditch Medical shows how strong leadership and supportive investors can unlock the potential of a business.
“Under Steve’s direction and with Traditum’s support, it has undergone a remarkable transformation in a little over a year. Becoming part of schülke will open new opportunities as it enters the next stage of its growth journey.”
Steve Brown, Redditch Medical CEO, stated: “Joining schülke is a great opportunity for our team and our customers. We share a common vision of quality, safety, and innovation, and we look forward to contributing to schülke’s mission.”
Schülke CEO Jan-Dirk Auris added: “Redditch Medical brings deep expertise in sterile cleanroom solutions that perfectly complements our Life Science portfolio. This acquisition is a decisive step forward in our mission to protect lives worldwide.”
