It’s an exciting time at RAS as we head towards 2022. The next year has lots of promise as we move into our new premises in Chester and adopt a more flexible hybrid approach to working. We look forward to seeing our client base continue to grow and the opportunities for new challenges and lasting relationships that this will bring. To help us to continue to grow we are looking for some likeminded people to join the team.

Between us, we have years of experience and knowledge spanning the full range of process safety management, from the technical aspects of risk analysis and functional safety through to the more human aspects of procedures, training and competence management. It is important to us that this knowledge is put to good use across the industry, even where we aren’t directly involved. This is why we make sure to share as much as we can, in papers, at events and via industry associations. If it can help an operator to better understand and manage their risk, it’s the right thing to do.

We are different in how we approach issues. Our team comprises of people from a range of disciplines, from engineering, chemistry, biology and maths through to the environmental sciences like ecology and geography. Our unique team structure allows us to go back to first principles and approach challenges from a range of perspectives. It is what enables us to find creative and innovative solutions, and most importantly, to be flexible. We work in complex systems that need systematic approaches. “Off the shelf” methodologies rarely work in this context which is why we approach every project with originality and pragmatism. It’s an approach that we’re proud of and that has led to many long lasting relationships with those who we support.

People are at the centre of everything we do; what we do, why we do it, and how we do it. Empathy is a vital, but somewhat underrated, ingredient in successful process safety management. Risks can only by managed if they are well understood, which is why we take the time to understand a client’s challenges to work out the right solution for them. We work with operators, not for them, because this is the only way to make sure that what we recommend is achievable and sustainable. Internally, our people make RAS what it is. While we are committed to investing in the professional development of our team members, we are equally committed to their wellbeing.
